John Groves is a teacher and performer of trombone and didgeridoo.

Education Credentials

John Groves earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Central Washington University,
focused study in music education and trombone performance.  Mr. Groves has studied trombone
with Kadie Nichols, Pacific NW Ballet Orchestra and Larry Gookin, Professor of Music Central
Washington University. Study of didgeridoo with Djalu Gurruwiwi, Northern Territory, Australia.

Also, John does adjudication, beginning band recruitment demos for trombone and history of brass,
clinics (trombone / brass masterclasses and sectionals) and didgeridoo presentations (for K-12,
college ethnomusicology classes, and general public workshops).

Student Results

Students over the years have qualify for Washington All-State Band & Orchestra, WIBC, All-Northwest
honor ensembles and All-State solo contest. Post high school students have successfully
auditioned for music scholarships for in state and national music programs in colleges, universities
and conservatories.

Performance Experience

Groves' instructing and performance experiences include but not limited too, Brass Choir,
Dixieland/Trad Jazz, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, Quartet, Solo, Symphonic Wind
Ensemble, Trombone Choir & Australian Aboriginal music studies.

Currently John leads & performs with:
John Groves Jazz Combo & as a freelance musician.
